Learning Objective:
Students will understand the importance of healthy habits and be able to identify various practices that contribute to a healthy lifestyle.
Materials
- Brush Ninja animated gif maker
- Chart paper or whiteboard
- Markers or chalk
- Worksheet handouts (optional)
Procedure
Introduction
- Begin by discussing with students what they think healthy habits are.
- Write down their responses on the chart paper or whiteboard.
- Explain that today, we will explore different healthy habits and create animated gifs using Brush Ninja.
Brainstorming Healthy Habits
- Facilitate a class discussion on healthy habits.
- Encourage students to share their ideas and provide examples if needed.
- Record their suggestions on the chart paper or whiteboard.
Demonstration of Brush Ninja
- Show students how to access and use Brush Ninja animated gif maker.
- Provide a brief overview of its features, such as drawing tools, frames, and playback options.
Creating Animated Gifs
- Divide students into pairs or small groups.
- Instruct each group to choose one healthy habit from the brainstormed list.
- Using Brush Ninja, have them create a simple animation that demonstrates the chosen habit in action.
- For example, if “brushing teeth” is selected, students can animate a character brushing their teeth for 3-5 seconds.
- Encourage creativity and remind them to include relevant details like facial expressions or background elements.
Sharing and Discussion
- Allow each group to present their created gifs to the class using a projector or screen-sharing technology.
- After each presentation, ask other students to guess which healthy habit is being demonstrated.
- Facilitate a brief discussion on why that habit is important for maintaining good health.
Assessment
- Observe students’ participation and engagement throughout the activity.
- Evaluate their understanding of healthy habits based on their animated gif creations.
- Assess their ability to discuss the importance of each demonstrated healthy habit during the sharing and discussion segment.
Extension
- Provide individual or group assignments where students create more complex animated gifs showcasing multiple healthy habits together.
- Encourage them to research additional healthy habits beyond those discussed in class and incorporate them into their animations.
- Allow students to share their extended projects with classmates or the school community through a dedicated platform or presentation.
