#38: Welcome Back!
Hi - welcome back to Brush Ninja!
My son is now back at school and things are starting to settle down again, so I want to start thinking about Brush Ninja once more. I had a great summer break - travelling, seeing family, and going on lots of day trips with my son and wife.
In that time I also started thinking about another project that has been on my mind for years. A system for making simple videogames in a web browser, and I even started working on it. Brush Ninja is still the priority for me, but this will be my side project for the time being.
So back to the little ninja app.
This week I discovered that Amazon, who host the gallery images and videos, have been charging me a lot of money for the privilege! It had started small and I hadn’t realised the costs had grown quite large. So I’ve spent the last week working out what happened and how I can fix it.
Fortunately, a week on, I think it’s now resolved and the costs should be under control again. But it was a stressful few days getting to this stage.
In addition to this I also worked on a couple of bugs that were reported to me over the summer. I’m always interested in hearing about any problems so please do let me know if anything doesn’t work as you expect.
I’m not sure what I’m going to be doing with Brush Ninja over the next month. I shall start to formulate a plan next week. I like to make things organically, and work out things as I go. You might have noticed that with the way this newsletter threads all over the place. It’s probably not the best way to run a website but it’s not doing too badly so I’m going to just keep on going.
So, that’s a weird newsletter this month. In fact, I’d love to know what you expect to get from the newsletters. Are you happy for me to ramble on, like a development diary, or would you rather I wrote about something else? And what sort of things would you like to know? One of the things I know I want to do this year is to be more focused and intentional about what I do.
If you have any feedback/ ideas about the newsletter or the website, then all you have to do is reply to this email!
All the best - until next month - Ben
